Ahh the dreaded question “tell us a bit about yourself” never an easy one to answer!
Obviously I have a deep love of the ocean and anything related to the sea which I attribute to being a Pisces - this also causes me to be an endless dreamer, hopeless romantic and frustrated creative. I’m fortunate that I live about 15 minutes away from the beautiful southern Sydney beaches and get to spend a lot of time near the ocean.
In my twenties I worked in property law but once my first daughter was born I knew I did not want to go back to daily commutes to the city, I did a year long floristry course and opened my own wedding floristry business from home. I absolutely adored working with flowers however once my son came along a few years later the 4am Sydney Flower market trips coupled with a newborn just weren’t working for me.
I decided I would concentrate solely on raising my two beautiful kids. I had a brief stint styling dessert tables for a couple of years with a great friend of mine, which was another chance to be creative but with the rise of Pinterest and the endless “inspiration” it offers more and more people started to do it themselves and we never wanted to turn it into a huge business as we both had young children.
Fast forward to now, after being a stay at home mum for the best part of 20 years, my adult and nearly adult children need me less and less which has given me the opportunity to indulge in my passion for thrifting and finding fabulous vintage pieces. My Instagram page has become my new creative outlet where I show off my finds and how I’ve styled them in my very average Aussie home. I want to show that with a little patience and a good eye anyone can create a collected, interesting home.
My husband and kids get a little overwhelmed at times, especially when another plate gets stuck to a wall or when you can’t put anything down on the shell covered coffee table but generally they are on board and are happy for me to have this creative outlet. I’ve become addicted to the thrill of the hunt and am always so excited to style and show off my latest finds.
